He mentioned in the past possibly adding a mid-season transfer ala Jabari Brown, Jordan Barnett and I think this would be very smart to do as sometimes there are high-level recruits who just made the wrong choice. As for how we get the scholarship, there are 2 guys I could see leaving mid-year. This is the option I believe Cuonzo should pursue the most, especially considering they will be able to play next year and possibly at the beginning of the year when the NCAA makes up their mind.
Next, he should look to add one more versatile wing in the 2019 class. This could be Kobe Brown or it could be a guy who de-commits in the spring but don't waste the scholarship unless it is a top 150ish talent (the 2020 class is loaded). Obviously, this goes without saying we should not take a recruit unless we are absolutely sure Jontay is gone.
