So this will probably get lost amid all the wild developments going on with Mizzou right now, but I thought I’d give the board an update on my daughter Riley. She is in the hospital this morning to begin her 6th (and hopefully last) round of chemo. In about 3 weeks she will then have scans done to see how much of a response we have achieved over the last 4 months. If the scans are clear, as we hope and pray they will be, then she will be done with treatment. If not we’ll evaluate the next step. Her doctors have been optimistic all along, so hopefully they will be proven right. This has been a grueling process for us since October, but she has been an absolute champ all the way along. She’s maintained straight A’s in school despite many missed days, being inducted into the National Honor Society just last night, and she has even decided to try to get back out on the lacrosse field with her high school team this spring as soon as the doctors will allow it. I cannot express how proud I am of her, and how thankful I am for all the support she has received from so many people along the way. I believe that she is going to come out on the other side of this stronger than ever!

I want to also let everyone know again how fortunate I think we are to have Cuonzo as our coach at Mizzou. Since meeting Riley at a game earlier this year, he has stayed in touch with me via Twitter to keep up with how she’s been doing. If she feels up to it after this round of chemo, we are going to be attending the Arkansas game courtesy of the team and athletic department once again. That kindness means the world to me as a father.

Lastly I want to give a shout out to @GabeD. He takes a lot of crap around here at times, but in my humble opinion he does a phenomenal job with his Mizzou coverage and this website, and he has been an absolute gentleman in private conversations regarding Riley’s progress and in facilitating our contacts with the folks at Mizzou. He has become a friend and I am grateful for that.

The last 24 hours have been pretty exciting (crazy?) for us as Mizzou fans, but nothing is more exciting than the hope for a happy, healthy daughter.

I wish everyone a great weekend!
