First, let me start off by saying I realize that Smith does not meet the current criteria to have his number retired by Mizzou and have his name put on the walls of Faurout Field. However, in another thread a poster referred to Justin Smith as a likely Hall of Famer. If Smith is elected to the NFL Hall of Fame, would that, in addition to college accolades be enough to warrant retiring Smith's number? After it all, it would seem kind of odd to leave off Smith who was an All-American in College AND an NFL HOFer, and yet have Brock Olivo's number retired when Olivo was not even an All-American at Mizzou and an NFL career limited to being a special teams performer. (Don't mean to denigrate Olivo... I just think Justin Smith had the more impressive career). If Justin Smith is elected to the HOF, I would like to see him honored at Mizzou, especially if he continues working with the program. In my opinion, Justin Smith the single most impressive defensive player to wear the Black & Gold in the almost 40 years I have been watching Mizzou football
