I’m trying to think about something other than Mizzou basketball.
Two main differences I see:
1) Drink gets the sales & marketing angle, not just with recruits but with everyone. I always felt like Odom thought it was a necessary evil, not an opportunity; I can’t imagine it was dramatically different when recruiting. Odom is just not the guy that exudes enthusiasm. I hope Drink gets the results.
2) Drink filled his staff from his network of contacts; yeah he hired the Mizzou guys but a majority of his staff came from guys he’s worked with before. I always felt this played a role in Odom’s struggles.
