During a cookout Saturday, Paul South told Cody Flournoy that Jackson (Ala.) High had five millionaire athletes on its roster.

South, the mayor of Jackson, a city of 61,000 people, has invested his time into watching the athletes at the center of his community, one that's seen more eyes and interest driven to it from its basketball and football programs.

During the NCAA Contact Period this past month, Flournoy, the coach of Jackson football, welcomed Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz and assistant head coach and cornerbacks coach Al Pogue on Jan. 27.
