I don't have any special data or statistics to back me up, but my impression after watching this game, is that in addition to all that Hall brings to the table with his talent and the chemistry he has with DL, it is also extremely important to have all of the WRs healthy, including Brown and Floyd. It keeps the O from having to overexpose and overuse JJ, Knox and Scott, and allows for many more looks and packages. During that stretch from S. Carolina through UK, we had to use Scott and Knox extensively, and JJ literally never came off the field. In addition to overexposing the two freshman as the talented but inexperienced freshman that they are, we also could not substitute freely in order to keep them and JJ fresh. I think the passing game suffered dramatically as a result.
It was clear from the start of that game yesterday that there were more options and open throws for Lock than there have been since the Purdue game. I know that most of the credit for that dynamic goes to Hall, but I think the depth played a part in it also. Hopefully, we get Albert O and Blanton back this week, and we can put together some more great offensive performances like yesterday. This last month could be really fun.
