Shouldn't Drew Lock either be starting or only getting garbage time minutes? If there isn't a qb battle then why throw Drew in for a single series when the game is on the line with the intent of pulling him regardless of how he performs. If Drew performs well then it could undermine Mauk's confidence or the teams confidence in him. If Lock performs poorly then it ends up being a wasted series, makes the offense less cohesive and could ultimately lead to a loss. It is an unneeded distraction and undermines team chemistry. All in the name of giving the backup qb some experience. Would you play a backup center for a series when the game is on the line simply because you want to reward him for practicing well? Why do it for the qb position then? If you believe a player gives you the best chance of winning then shouldn't he be starting. Am I missing something?
If Mauk is our guy (which he is) then let's stop trying to sabotage him. At this point it looks like our 1st team guys need as many reps as possible.
