So, I've been away for awhile. And honestly, I'm not at all convinced that I'm staying long. Long story short, I'm not here to argue. I've got longtime friends (@drecar, I'm looking at you) who I respect while having different opinions from mine, and that's ok. Reasonable people can disagree, even vehemently. So this isn't any sort of I-told-you-so, either.

But I love this program. Always have. And I've had enough.

Missouri Basketball's current state, obviously, is not ok. It's not acceptable. And it's getting worse.

That isn't an opinion, that's a quantifiable, statistical fact.

I took no pleasure in being very publicly opposed to Kim Anderson becoming the next coach of our Tigers before, during and after he was hired, and I take no pleasure in saying this now.

Walk away, Kim.

Take the next couple of days, work out the buyout details, enjoy your family, and leave while some are still able to remember that you were a great Tiger, loyal and true.

Walk away before some of the few players on this squad who fit at a Power 5 conference squad leave, as would have happened if your mentor, Coach Stewart, would have experienced with players like Keyon Dooling and Clarence Gilbert had he not left when he did.

Walk away before any more damage is done. You're a good guy. You're a True Son (in the classic sense of that phrase, before its very meaning had become twisted into some sort of bizzaro-world Yankee Doodle Dandy taunt). You deserve to go out prettier than this.

But you know what? Missouri Basketball deserves better than this, too. Missouri Basketball fans deserve better.

They deserve seeing a team that isn't practically incapable of scoring three years into your regime. They deserve better than the only strategy that leads to victory being some combination of magical thinking and irrational hopes of opponents' incompetence.

They deserve a fresh start.

It's almost the New Year. It's time to turn the page.
