was at country place H & F building deck, only get 3 PBS stations so couldn't watch. heard score which was depressing and seeing comments here for couple days couldn't bring myself to watch recorded game. But when I did saw a very exciting opening series with Josh on his game and attacking exactly how I thought he should, deep along sidelines which opened up his running game, TWO of those could have gone for TD's with a better throw! Thru first half there were opportunities, even completed passes on third down but receivers didn't know where first down markers were, which is awful on their part but drew showed a quick release and did some terrific things. got run going for some time, what was truly troubling is the whiffs by BOTH guards, AA and Hall, total breakdowns where they didn't even get in front of their guys.
D was remarkable, solid play and especially after first period they rocked and fired and were terrific.
Troubling again was Josh's scheme after half, coming out throwing long and too deep when it was obvious they were giving him the underneath completions and they were there. Needed to rely on more passes to TE and RB, like FL did, they had a terrific approach early on and went to MU's vulnerable areas, to BO's credit and the players they adjusted and fixed that. Put Drew in bind and FL just came after him to disasterous results, tigers didn't have hot reads to fill in where blitzers were coming from and drew didn't have quick outlet, routes were too deep and took too long.
Hey saw a lot to like and after watching FL in early games, Grier didn't look as polished as he had in last two games early on but he got the reps and got better. Drew did NOT have those pre conference games to get his act together so IMO there is a lot to build on. He will only get better, BTW leave connor where he is, did excellent job and so did Nate, it is the Guards who are weak links and need to get new blood in there, AA and Hall looked lost at times. Also Josh needs to use his rb's to better effect, chase and tyler need more touches especially on passes, need to PITCH the damn ball to Ish to get him on the edge, NOT up the gut, where RH makes his living. Or chase, you are building for next year, find out what you have.
