1. This offense, quite simply, is a mess. Ask yourself a question: What can Missouri lean on? What do you know Missouri does well? If you can find an answer, let me know.
2. The defense on the other hand is really good. Florida had two nice touchdown drives in the first quarter. The only other time they came very close to points was when Missouri handed the Gators the ball at the 44 yard line and the Gators missed a field goal. I don't know if it's an elite defense, but it's damn good. The question, though, is whether it's good enough for Missouri to win games.
3. The East is gone. Florida would have to lose 3 out of 4 and Missouri would have to win out, or the entire division would have to dissolve into utter chaos and the Tigers would have to win on the 11th tiebreaker or something. Atlanta isn't happening and that's not the goal anymore. The goal now is to win as many as you can and get to as good a bowl game as you can...and I still THINK Missouri can win six or seven.
4. I don't know what to make of Russell Hansbrough's status. He had a big run early, disappeared for most of two quarters, and had a big run late. I asked Pinkel if his absence was health related and his answer boiled down to "Kind of, but maybe not." Honestly, after the answer, I don't know whether it was health related or not. But if Missouri's got one thing we think we know can be pretty good, it's Russell Hansbrough. The kid has seven games left. Give him the ball until he says he can't run it anymore.
5. Can we do a clinic where we invite coaches to talk about clock management? It didn't matter, but Jim McElwain just butchered it at the end of the first half. Florida didn't end up needing three or seven more points, but what if it had? And it's a weekly occurrence with coaches at all levels.
