I checked into the situation and was told they were communicating with the airline every day this week to make sure everything was going to be okay to get them out. They were assured it was, then a plane went off the runway at 2 p.m., the airport closed and they weren't. The way I understand it, Missouri was being told the situation would be fine and then it wasn't and there wasn't much they could do. I guess they could have insisted on leaving earlier, but when the airline is telling you you'll be fine, I assume you tend to trust them.
