You guys are relentless and I feel bad that Gabe feels obligated to reply to you guys about it everytime so here you go.
Coach Hill
- Said Black played well but needs to play faster overall
Coach Heupel
- On a 2 quarterback system
- Trying to utilize different skill sets to give yourself the best opportunity to score points
- (Essentially) says the plan is to get drew going early, then get Marvin in there to get his feet wet for the day. After the first few drives, QB will be chosen based on flow of game, ball position, etc.
- Says he wouldn’t have changed anything in regards to playing Zanders in the 2nd quarter.
- Says we didn’t execute
- Substitutions may change week to week based on the defense you are playing and how kids are practicing.
- Says if you play the same game 100 times you will get 100 different results so there will be in game adjustments to subbing as well.
- Said he thought Drew made some good plays but was also a little bit quick on the trigger sometimes.
Coach Ford
- Ford said guys can run harder and have a lot of room for growth.
- Says he expects Crockett to produce and thinks he’ll get it done.
- Says he has 4 guys who can help him out.
- Says strong is in the mix.
Coach Cross
- Say the terminology is definitely different this year.
- Says the defense didn’t play very consistently.
- Says Penton set the bar for himself really high on Saturday. Again mentions consistency.
- Said he doesn’t know anything about Steck’s defensive schemes and didn’t seem like he’d have any interest in comparing them even if he did. He is confident that his stuff will work and he has seen it work at times throughout practice. I think he’d like his guys to be more consistent…..
- Says he has lost key guys at key positions. Mentions Brothers and Brady as big losses (but not by name of course)
- Then some guy asked some obvious question about defense breaking down…….
- Says coverage needed to be better for Harris to get a sack. He got a couple QB hits but never quite had the time to get there and he (Harris) got frustrated
- Basically said the defense all needs to be on the same page before you start seeing Harris dominate within the scheme.
- Says Terez Hall should have played more
- Says he doesn’t think Newsome will have a problem covering slot receivers from time to time but they typically won’t ask him to do it all game.

- Not sure if it was just me but I think most of the Elarbee interview got deleted somehow. It did seem like he is willing to make a change if the line doesn’t get better though
