From what I watched today and the season so far, plus, what I've read here and all other boards we're headed to be team zero for the rest of my life. There is almost no point in continuing but I'm a glass half full man and refuse to throw in the towel. So just in case the coaches read this I thought we could be helpful and create a bullet point list of key points for the team to work on, to help them out (I notice them but coaches must not as they keep occurring). Anyway this seems better than bitching and might just help to get a head start for 2017.
- Eliminate the knucklehead penalties. We seem to be averaging +/- 10 a game. Pinkels teams rarely beat themselves when they were rolling and 75 penalty yards per game is just sloppy football
- Eliminate the turnovers. Today was better but we're good for 2-3 per game
- Do something positive on special teams when receiving the ball. Had a big return today but overall this has been terrible all year
- Run the ball. We can't play fast, sorry. We have a ton of backs, play them until you find the guys for the future. We've had success running so run the damn ball and play keep away
- Practice tackling. Hit low. Why are we always tackling high. Our best tacklers always go low. Guys tend to go down fairly easily when you keep hitting their knees
- Get some sacks, force some turnovers. Both work in our favor so make this a major focus going forward. Was always a key metric in the past
- Work with the receivers on what to do when a play breaks down. We're the only team in America whose receivers can't get separation and they turn to block at same time...when Lock is not running. Noticed this last week and Lock didn't have a single receiver looking to make a play
- Play Zanders. Give him a game to see what happens. We have nothing to lose at his point.
- Coaches need to coach. Fix the defense. Even if we had 70% of last years defense back we should have portions of the game where they're really good.
- Get the damn students to show up. The lack of support is unreal. I understand we suck but had same issue last year one year removed from SEC championship
- (See above) redue seating. Students have way to many good seats that go unused. Put them near band and sell a bunch of 50 yard line seats to alumni. They can still be involved but they have way to many seats...not that it matters this year. Show up, support our team
