Sterk's mistake in my opinion, was to limit his search to someone with head coaching experience. It is now obvious that limited our search too far. Head coaching experience limits the downside, but also limits the upside of candidates. We need upside, and should be willing to take the necessary risk to get it. That means going to coordinator's, NFL assistants, or fired coaches (with people pulling an early trigger there are going to be some fired coaches who should be looked at). Of the 3 on the list I'd go with the Army coach. He has had to figure out how to win with lesser talent, which is exactly the task at hand for Mizzou in the SEC.
