Mizzou is always going to have some problems when they go to play a strong physical team on grass. I wasn't at LSU, but on the HDTV, it seemed like LSU's grass was pretty tall. One of the reasons that LSU's grass is especially slow is that they have to grow it a bit to keep hold because they replace it every year since 2010. As such, this will negate speed significantly. Think about the 1999 Rams. Artificial turf helps speed. Longer and wetter the grass, the more it negates speed.
Mizzou is a team built on speed. Those quick passes, quick cuts, small quick WR's. The Grass kills that. If you want to see what Mizzou could be if they built their team to compete on grass, watch Arkansas.
Read & React, Grass is going to slow your reaction and once a lineman has you engaged and has the upper hand, you cannot get off that block without giving up ground and trying to use your speed. Grass hurts both of those.
This was a terrible situation for Mizzou. I picked LSU to win. I didn't think Mizzou would score much, but I didn't think LSU would either, but seeing the field grass and watching LSU really highlighted this problem
