You saw a little bit of the future in that first half. Javon Pickett came out of the gate quickly, scoring the first six points. Then Jeremiah Tilmon took over with a hot stretch. Then Torrence Watson had a couple of nice drives. And Xavier Pinson was pretty steady throughout. Those four combined for 29 of Missouri's 37 points in the first half. Cuonzo Martin will take that every single night, then get Mark Smith back and you start to like what you see in the young nucleus.

I know Vandy was supposed to have Darius Garland, but I'm not sure that alone would make this team good. They just don't do anything particularly well. They do get to the foul line a lot. They shot 16 in the first half, Mizzou only shot seven. Without the eight point edge there, the Commodores would be getting blown out.

The Tigers led for 18:40 and controlled every aspect of this game minus a three minute scoring drought that briefly let Vandy creep back within two. That said, I've seen this team enough to know no game is over. Gonna need to go ahead and play well coming out of the locker room.

If anybody can tell me what Jordan Geist did to deserve a tech that'd be great.

Best moment of the half was Tilmon firing a baseball pass 90 feet...with three seconds left in the half. That kid's entertaining.

One of the better stats: Mizzou had six assists. It had only seven all game at Auburn.

The stat that was better than that: Mizzou had one turnover.
