I spent 15 minutes before the game googling "hot dog delight" after seeing this tweet from Mark Richt
It was the most appetizing thing I saw during the last hour and it was nearly vomit inducing.
The basketball was pretty bad. Ole Miss played absolutely terribly for about 11 minutes and Missouri couldn't do anything with it. The Tigers were up five and it felt like it should have been 15. They were just missing everything. They weren't bad shots. All the threes were open and in rhythm. And they missed all but two of them. But then Ole Miss continued to play almost as badly and Missouri went back up by six.
Obviously the team really missed Xavier Pinson who spent a good amoiunt of time on the bench with two fouls including a technical for taunting which, while weak, is something that is usually going to be called. Other than Pinson, nobody for Missouri really stood out offensively for most of the half. Dru Smith did get aggressive in the last six minutes and make some things happen. After missing his first shot, Smith made three in a row and scored 10 points.
Parker Braun gave Missouri some nice minutes with four rebounds, a block and some activity. He was rewarded with what is already a career high 12 minutes. His best play didn't even count when a follow dunk was wiped off the board due to an offensive foul.
Ole Miss, meanwhile, is a one man team. If Breein Tyree doesn't beat you, Ole Miss won't beat you. He has 15. Missouri has to hold him under 30.
The refs did ref things. There were as many fouls as made field goals for the first 13:30 and the teams averaged a foul a minute through the first half. I'm sure some of them were good calls. Quite a few probably weren't. I'm almost numb to it. It's just really, really hard to watch and enjoy a game that stops every 22 seconds for a whistle.
