Throughout the week, I asked some people, "What happens if they come out and lay down and get run off the field again?"
The answer, I think, is still nothing until the end of the season. But this is inexcusable guys. You know me. I don't call for firings. I'm not calling for one here. But if it happened tomorrow, at this point, I don't know how anyone could say it was unjustified.
This team does nothing well except punt. At one point tonight they had eight snaps and three false starts. They can't catch. The line has been bad for the last six quarters. The defense is okay for two downs and then gives up however many yards the other team needs to move the chains. As I said in the game thoughts, I don't know if they've quit, but the alternative is that they're trying their hardest and they're just this bad. Neither is particularly palatable.
It's not just that they're about to be 1-3. It's that two of the games have been over at halftime and at one point they had been outscored 94-3 over 129 minutes of game time. They don't look like they belong on the field. It feels every bit as hopeless as the last two years of basketball did.
I normally attempt to be the voice of reason on here. But this is really all I've got. You talk and talk for two weeks about how big these games are, how the team is sticking together, how you're close, etc. And then you come out two weeks in a row and end the game in the first ten minutes. Just can't happen.
