Time to look in the mirror and be honest about what we see reflected there...
1) Jordan Barnett and Reed Nikko are not saviors. There is no savior walking through that door. Even a Paul O'Liney walk-on couldn't save this team.
2) The Missouri staff, is recruiting like a mid-major ... but player development is awful.
Phillips and Puryear and Walton are all no better - and you can make a case for worse - than they were as freshman. This has been a consistent theme.
Freshman to sophomore improvement should be the most obvious and is fairly low-hanging fruit. We haven't seen any of it.
3) in addition to recruiting in the third-tier of players, this staff has also failed drastically at evaluating talent. VanLeer=best shooter ever seen and good enough defensively... Kevin Puryear=better than Anonouby and Morgan...Kemp, Geist, Allen=worthy of D1 scholarships...
All major, major misreads.
4) The worst fears about Kim's anderson were not severe enough. He has been even worse than the biggest skeptics thought he would be.
He's not even Jim wooldridge or Greg McDermott bad. He's coach of the Washington generals bad.
5) Giving Anderson season 3 because you have to give a guy at least three years (or even season 2) just set the program further behind.
Time to nuke it. One benefit is that they're so bad, there isn't a single player you'd think twice about losing.
But you better get someone who can recruit and turn it in a hurry, because the best "building blocks" here are guys who should be the 4th or 5th best player on a really good team.
