I have a good friend in Boise. Big BSU guy. His comment when I texted him about Harsin was "take him".

First, understand that Boise fans pretty much expect a big 6 bowl most years (rightly or wrongly). Harsin is only 1/6 in that category and the 1 was his first year and all the fans give that credit to Coach Pete (rightly or wrongly).

So Harsin has been good (or maybe just okay), not great and that is a problem for a lot of Boise fans. Over the last 4 years he has lost 3 or 4 games which is a lot for them. The team struggles with some teams the fans think they should handle and there always seems to be an 'unacceptable' loss that keeps them out of the Big 6. This year they lost to a 2-4 BYU team (but they also don't notice that BYU hasn't lost since).

My take:

I think Harsin is a solid, not spectacular coach. He is not appreciated in Boise (rightly or wrongly) and I think he'd jump at a chance for a 'promotion' and a fresh start. I don't think Harsin is still in Boise because he loves it there or has turned down offers. The offers just haven't been there. His last contract extension did not provide a raise, but instead doubled his incentives. Basically a 'you want more money, go earn it" type of contract. His buyout is next to nothing.
