Anyone want to bless me with your secret? Here is where I'm at...
Previously I mixed the feed pellets with river water and flour. But I have trouble with keeping it on the hook. I've found the mashed up feed pellets are the best method for helping my now 6yo to catch trout. Always fun to see the looks when he pulls out a decent trout mid-day while others are striking out.
Yesterday the boy and I experimented with different additives to try to see if you could get the smashed pellets to form better on the hook. I have come to two conclusions:
1) The best forming was purely just the water and feed with as little water as possible. The more water we added, the worse it was on staying on the hook.
2) Xanthan Gum was decent enough at getting the over watered version back to a decent form that would stay in the hook. But it wasn't any better than the minimal water and feed version from #1.
