Honest question re: a WR coaching QBs

It always seems strange to me when a non-quarterback coaches quarterbacks. QB strikes me as a position that is unique, highly specialized and should therefore be coached by someone who has played the position at a high level, i.e. Josh Heupel (Mr. Personality). It seems like this would also help with recruiting. Do elite QB recruits want to be coached by a wide receiver?

I am quite sure I am missing A LOT in my thought process, but I would really like to know where I am off. Any former QBs on the board?
