If things actually went their way this year, even without Jontay.
Four games I find that killed this team:
Nov. 27th 79-77 loss vs Temple: Find three more points out of somebody in that game and this team feels really good about themselves at 10-2 in conference play.
Blown lead Jan 26 86-80 OT loss vs LSU: This one was really the dagger, for any postseason hopes. Hang on, and the young guys have a lot of confidence going forward with a win over a ranked team.
68-59 February 9th loss to Texas A&M: I’m fairly confident if Jeremiah Tilmon plays in that game, Mizzou wins.
February 23 64-60 loss at Florida: Literally one Javon Pickett open look three-pointer goes in and they win.
If they hold on to win those games, that would put them at what, 17-11 right now? In an incredibly weak bubble this season, that probably would be enough for an 8-10 seed?
I get, losses are losses and you could say the same thing vice versa about their close wins that could be losses. Bad teams find ways to lose, but it’s also a young team that just can’t close out games quite yet.
They’re honestly not that far off and all it takes to make the NCAA Tournament is being a mediocre Power Five team, apparently.
