FOOTBALL How did Pinkel survive 2004-05

He lost to New Mexico and Troy, he couldnt win in a down North, Iowa State saved him twice, he lost kansas and kstate, he beat one ranked team and lost to teams much worse. Did 2003 and the Nebraska win build up that much good will? Cause I know at today's Mizzou he'd of been fired with an all time great Junior and Senior QB, who played like it, being wasted. I recognize his greatness after this and understand expectations have changed but those were at least his recruits and his team by that point.
