Mizzou great Howard Richards made his first appearance at the Tiger Club of Kansas City on Tuesday, September 26. And he left quite an impression.

Howard started the day with a private tour of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum with Bob Kendrick, who is the president of the KC treasure. Mr. Kendrick was between an early morning speaking engagement to a grade school class in Lee's Summit and delivering the eulogy for Negro Leagues umpire Bob Motley, but he took the time to lead Howard on the tour and discuss ways Mizzou and the Museum can work together in the future.

Howard then met with the Tiger Club board before discussing a wide-range of subjects at the luncheon. Based in his hometown of St. Louis, Howard serves as Mizzou’s Assistant Athletics Director for Community Relations and is in his seventh year as radio analyst for the Tiger Radio Network. He addressed everything from the football team to the positive reception of Cuonzo Martin, from campus protests to the NFL events over the weekend. And he did it in a positive, enlightening manner that left the crowd confident in the direction of the University in general and the Athletics Department specifically.

Carrington Harrison of 610 Sports then had Howard in-studio and covered many of the same topics as the luncheon. Carrington asked fair questions, and gave Howard a lot of time to discuss the positive things happening at Mizzou.

Howard finished his KC tour with a generous sampling of the menu from Chicken N Pickle, a wonderful restaurant in North Kansas City owned by Mizzou alum David Johnson, who is also chairman of Maxus properties. The restaurant has hosted numerous events for MU, including a TSF staff retreat, the Tiger Club's SEC Block Party, and the Tiger Caravan stop with Cuonzo, Barry, and Jim Sterk.

The Tiger Club of KC meets every Tuesday at the Westport Flea Market Bar and Grill. Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m. with the program beginning at Noon. On Tuesday, October 3 at the Club, KC Star columnist Vahe Gregorian is scheduled to speak. Come join us!
