1) We did what everyone said we should do against UTM.
2) Our penalties were down, especially from the false starts from Olinmen.
3) I think we should say that we agree with Barry in that this recruiting class just may turn out to be a good one. Call it a 3a) The got some good PT and not just the typical mopping up time.
4) Drops were down, at least while Drew was in the game.
5) I like the fact that I only saw two plays were we missed a defensive assignment.
6) I was a bit surprised to see Powell play as much as he did. Is he the clear #2? I doubt it! If he had put the points on the board with the opportunities he had might have, but clearly with this being his first opportunity on the field it was good for him and while he didn't put up the points, he moved the team.
Yes, UTM is a FCS, but they were out manned, but probably are really a better team than MSU was last year.
Mostly, #2, 4, and 5 are likely the ones that are the best take aways from this game in my opinion. Now the usual after game a good game 1. We have to back it up!
