they may have made an outstanding hire with Steve Sarkisian. Virtually the only blip on his resume is alcohol issues back in 2015, which got him fired at the time. I think he's worked through those after having rehab, and the product on the field speaks for itself. He has NFL experience, head coaching experience and winning records at Washington and USC, and a brilliant football mind influenced by Pete Carroll and Nick Saban. Furthermore, he coached great college quarterbacks that include Carson Palmer, Tua Tagovailoa, Matt Leinart, and Mac Jones.

I mention this because this may make recruiting in Texas significantly harder, as it was back before about 2010. At that time, it was an assumption that a solid Texas player would dream of playing for Texas. Texas made the phone calls to recruits, and not the other way around. Since then, it is well-documented that A&M, Baylor, LSU, Bama, and even Houston and SMU have all made serious headway on getting elite Texas recruits.
