But, Cuonzo Martin teams are going to be easy to cheer for.

Many of us grew up with Norm Stewart coaching the Tigers. That shaped my perception of how college basketball should be played. Gritty, tough, physical, lots of pounding, a bit edgy and an attitude.

I also really enjoyed watching the Mike Anderson team with Caroll, Denmon, Tiller, Bowers and English. They played hard defense and seemed to outwork their opponents. That team, and Norm Stewart teams seemed to win with effort; more effort than their opponent.

Since then, it has been bleak.

Martin has given the basketball team heart again. It is fun watching our guys play hard, surely a reflection of the coach.

I'm not saying Cuonzo Martin is John Wooden, and his offense needs a lot of work. But I really love the way he motivates his team to play hard. It's fun to watch.
