I recall several here were enamored with the Troy coach after they beat LSU in Death Valley. The coach I believe was pretty cocky after the game saying it wasn’t a fluke etc etc.

Forward a few weeks and when Mizzou beat Idaho all I’ve heard from the Negative Nancies of all things Odom, is that Idaho proves nothing, they are ‘turrible’. There was no improvement demonstrated by beating the Vandals by 40 or so calling off the dogs for most of the last quarter.

The mighty Troy, the giant slayer , had that inept Idaho team at home in Alabama . Troy won 24-21 .

Was the brilliant Troy tactician that beat the now top 20 LSU Team at Baton Rouge just bored and not put his best effort in beating an Idaho team that the seers here claimed was the laughing stock of college football?

LSU obviously is an improved team since that loss. Troy’s coach has come back to earth. Idaho is obviously not as hapless as some here said.

Does it mean anything? Not really. Each game is a short story. Only after the season can one sew those stories into a narrative. I’ve watched Mizzou start 6-0 and lose 5 of last six. I’ve seen many front runners have the wheels fall off and limp to the finish. Sometimes teams get off to a slow start, figure it out and just keeping getting better. There are some who want to discount anything that does not fit their narrative for the entire season they have decided upon.

Just like the Cajuns wanted to run O out of town after the Troy loss and many here were slobbering over the idea of hiring the Troy coach, we don’t know if the Ga, Ky, Idaho and Conn. games represent real progress or not. Tomorrow we get the next short story. Until then and the following 3 weeks play out ....we have not seen “all she wrote”.
