I don't post much, and I certainly don't overvalue my opinion (it's just one opinion after all), but I feel compelled to post a few things tonight. Take it for what it's worth.
1) Considering the lack of depth, the MPJ injury, and the in-season roster attrition, a 20-win campaign is incredible. Take a second and REALLY think about it. Mizzou won 20 games in a probable 8-bid conference without the projected Co-Player of the Year making it through the first media timeout of the season. To drive the point home, the Tigers are the only expected at-large team to qualify after finishing outside the KenPom top-150 last year.
2) I'm not worried about the Robertson/Barnett struggles from deep today. They've proven themselves this season. The last time they shot so poorly combined from 3-pt range was Jan. 17 against Tennessee. That was 15 games ago! Today they went 2-10 and I remember at least 4 WIDE OPEN misses. It happens. And for those who say they come up small in big situations, I strongly disagree. When we NEEDED two wins to get into the tourney (against Vandy and Arkansas to close the regular season) they went 15-30 from 3-pt range. So just stop talking.
3) I deeply respect MPJ playing today despite his obvious limitations. Like so many, I got caught up in the drama over the last couple weeks since he was cleared. I thought he was being soft by not playing. Well, I was so wrong. Watching him today made me appreciate his effort. Think about it: He's worth multi-millions regardless, he clearly isn't ready (it was obvious to anyone watching he lacked his normal explosiveness) and he played anyway because we needed him. Thank you sir.
4) This team can easily make the second weekend. Or it could go out on Day 1. I'm trying to enjoy the journey and not freak out with every basket made or missed. I'M PROUD OF THIS TEAM.
