The bad record... Mainly the offense's unraveling last year imo is playing into this narrative, much like 2012 that Mizzou is a lower rung program. We had a historically horrendous offense and special teams but National Championship caliber defense. Almost everything that could go wrong last year went wrong and then some.
Now imagine if last year we had averaged about 10 pts more which still would have been lower end on the offensive numbers nation wide but we most likely would have won 3 more games at a minimum and gone to a bowl game. Instead of heading into the season coming from a 5-7 record... We head into 2016 with possibly 9 wins (including a bowl win)... And possibly start the year ranked in the preseason top 25. A difference of 10 damn pts could make the entire country and media forget about everything Mizzou had done the previous years. That's all it took. Now let the nationwide media tell it we're under Kentucky and Vanderbilt in football. Wow! 1 bad year on Offense and ST and we're considered worse than Vanderbilt and Kentucky?!?! It wouldn't surprise me to see Mizzou only lose 1 or 2 games this year. They've never had this type of speed at receiver. Never had a staple of RBs, CBs, Safety, Dlinemen this deep and talented. The question marks imo are at Oline. If they stay healthy you'll see a group perform closer to 2013/2014 than last year's group.
And this isn't even taking into account better coaching at key positions: Offensive Coordinator, Oline, I think D line is a wash, Cornerback, and Wide receiver.... You have the possibility to do a complete 180 from last year. It can't be overstated how bad our Oline, RB's, Wr's and play calling was last year.
