That was the first year after they had the really good recruiting class. I think ours is not as highly rated but we have some of the key positions that they did that are very young and tons of potential. TBJ and the freshman WR are very good but very young. They will make some great plays but will make some big mistakes.
Compare:
D-line has a potential superstar and some very good/great role players.
WR: They had Treadwell and I think we have 2-3 that could turn out very good
QB: Bo Wallace (good Bo, bad Bo). Sound familiar? But we may have options.
RB: We had one but might struggle if RH does not heal fully. They have struggled to run the ball.
Back 7: Very strong and 2 deep
O-line: Good not great. Will not push anyone around at this point.
This is why I am ok with a "down" year of 8-9 wins. I think we have a lot of talent in the pipeline but are still very young at key positions. The one thing I think we have over the Ole Miss team is better QBs behind the starter and our RBs will produce more than they did (rushing has been average at best for OM).
The biggest thing we have to find is a steady offensive line. Almost every other position has a 2 deep that is close to the 1st string.
