Looking at the D, what improvements do you realistically think can be made between week 1 and week 2?
For me, I expect to see a better awareness of assignments and gang tackling. I saw a lot of guys on islands yesterday which seemed to indicate guys were out of position. I think the gang tackling follows and we have less solo tackles. When there's 2 or 3 guys swarming the ball, I'll feel better about the D.
Some more long term improvements, the D has to get better at wrapping up. I saw a lot of arm tackles which means more reps and drills are needed. It's sad that this will need to be addressed in practice when I expected good tackling out of camp. I think they will be marketedly better in 4-6 weeks.
Maybe next year improvements, explosiveness and athleticism. When Harold and others stop playing upright, bent at the waist, we might get up field. Other guys, especially the younger ones will need more time to develop.
What says the board?
