Still stings but helps to get an explanation. Not cool if he lied to the staff about coming but hey kids are kids and hope he does well

Brown said he agonized over the decision and didn't make the pick until Friday.
“I decided earlier this morning," he said. "I asked God last night to give me a sign, and there was one song that kept playing over and over in my head: Comin Home by Diddy. So I said this has to be a sign, and I guess it was.
“My parents guided me, but it was my decision. I don’t have any second guesses about it. I am ready to move on, get running, get lifting, and be a part of the Illini family”
Missouri made a late push and Illinois fans were very nervous right up until the decision. The Illinois staff was just as nervous. Lovie Smith said they found out it was Illinois just a few minutes before the announcement.
"Missouri was the second choice," Brown said. "It was really close. I talk to their coaches a lot, and they are good dudes. But, home is where it is, and I felt like Illinois was the right choice to be a part of something special.”
Also, this was interesting and maybe a reason it didnt work out here:
“I would rather play defense, but I can play wherever a school needs me," Brown said. "I will play where they think I can be most successful.”
