Haven't read the board. Here are some thoughts:
*I know the reaction won't be favorable. I get it. I'm not going to tell you if it's a good or bad hire because I have no idea but I know what your reaction will be and that's fine.
*He runs a pro style offense. But at TN and LT he did a lot of what Mizzou did last year. He'll mix the two. I know it was important in the search to find someone who would keep some of the same stuff, but integrate more pro style sets. Drew Lock wanted it and Barry Odom wanted it.
*I think this is a hire Lock likes. I haven't been told that by Drew or his family, but it's the impression I've gotten in sending out some quick messages to people who know them.
*My major question is can Dooley coach quarterbacks? He never has.
*Dooley has never called plays. He's never been an OC. We'll see how it goes.
*This hire will either turn out very good and surprise a lot of people or it will be what gets Barry Odom fired. There's a lot of room in the middle obviously, but I think this could be boom or bust.
*This name NEVER came up. Not to anyone I know. Every single reaction I got after the hire was "WHAT?" or "That came out of left field." Every one. NOBODY knew this was happening. That could mean Odom ran a very stealth search that nobody talked about. It could also mean quite a few guys turned it down. Because the list I posted last week, I'm very confident Missouri talked to all of them. Why they hired Dooley I don't know. Could be that Odom liked him all along and ran some misdirection or could be that a bunch of guys said no. Don't have a clue right now.
