If you want something for your kids to play with this summer, ask them if any number can be written as the sum of three or fewer triangular numbers (1,3,6,10,15,21,28,....)? Basically if you can represent the number as a bunch of dots in the form of a triangle, it’s triangular. It’s a question accessible by even 1st graders and challenging to HS when you start asking why?
