I know over the years we have heard, that "these things happen" (Middle Tennessee State, Central Michigan, East Carolina, etc, upsetting a power 5 conference team). Sure every year there are upsets. But when it happens it happens to bad teams, not good ones.
It doesn't happen to good teams because the recruiting is better, the players are better, the coaching is better. So even if the power 5 team has an off day, their talent and coaching over comes the difference and the power 5 team wins. The difference here is that we are not good. Our recruiting was not great the past couple of years. I hate to say this but 2 bad years of recruiting and two back to back crap seasons can set a program back for 5-8 years or more. You have to stay on top or consistent, or you will have years to pay for it in the losing column. Look at Texas (they have a better shot at turning it around over Mizzou any day of the week with recruiting and facilities, but they can't even do it). Anyone who thinks this is turning around any time fast is dreaming. We are 2 years in to a 4-5 year re-building plan, and it may take longer.
