I turned the game off last night with about 5 minutes left after Auburn's 1 point lead went to 18 points in (it seemed like) about 25 seconds. Just disgusting! Turnovers, no one could hit the basket, Auburn hits about 52 3 pointers, etc. One thing that really stood out to me was that Auburn was not big but they were incredible athletes. They were quick and could jump out of the gym. It looked like our players (especially the bigs) had their feet in quicksand. And have Jontay and Tilmon EVEN SCORED in the past couple of games?
Before I went to bed I thought about some of the great big men Norm had. Some of you won't remember them because they were there before your time. But I thought about Steve Stipanovich, Jevon Crudup, Derek Grimm, Gary Leonard, the Haley brothers (both 7 feet), and last but not least Monte Hardge (7 feet and all of 350 pounds--no one moved him around!). All of these guys would beat the hell out of you, working under the basket and grabbing rebounds. We need some guys in the mold of these great bigs!! Gabe, do you remember watching any of them play?
