I run into players on campus all the time, and almost never engage them. That said, ran into Geist somewhat recently and couldn’t help asking how his PG conversion project is going this offseason. With all the consternation about him being the man at point, I figured I’d share.Said he’s been in the gym morning, noon, and night, spending hours at a time working on his handles; believes he will be much better at the point next year with a full offseason to prepare.
Say what you want about the kid. He may or may not have a good year as a full-time PG, but it won’t be for lack of work ethic. JG has got his nose to grindstone trying to learn everything he can about this position.
I’m not inclined to bet against him (until the next time I start screaming at the TV when he picks up his dribble short of half court—please, Christ, tell me he’s been broken if that habit, if nothing else.)
