Game was never in doubt and I think Pinkel largely wanted to use it as a big scrimmage to get a bunch of guys snaps. They couldn't move the ball much at all.
1) Our OL looked either flat, deconditioned (lots of falling down), or confused. There were a ton of "wiffs" from the center and guards. Crawford had a bad wiff on the a play too when the DE gave him the spin move.
2) Our RBs did a very poor job in pass protection...Steward had a wiff, several other examples.
3) SEMO was prepared. There were multiple running plays where they shifted immediately before the snap and had guessed the correct "gap". This shut down a lot of our running plays in addition to the poor blocking. This is frustrating as even if we told SEMO the play before running we should be able to do whatevr we want ~70% of the time against SEMO, but also further confirms we had very vanilla play calling (inferior opponent, and Pinkel undoubtedly wanted to get as many guys in the game and get them snaps as possible.
4) Mauk has got to put a little more air under the ball. Our receivers constantly have to turn around and make difficult catches...there were 2-3 plays where if he just put some air under it they are TDs...instead they were incompletions.
5) Lock's last 2 passes of the 4th quarter were very poor. They were good throws, but bad decisions. He threw to the right side on one of those last two into double coverage and against faster DBs (most in SEC) with that long of a throw it's probably a pick 6. as no one else was in the area
6) Our DL is great at penetration, but the young guys tried to arm tackle everyone (Beckner did this a couple times, Nate Howard did as well, etc).
7) our back 7 played well, but the SEMO QB wasn't good, I tried to watch how we played their receiver McRoberts, but most of the plays I couldn't see if we rolled a safety his direction or not...they did a good job limiting his yards...tough to say too much here until the other team has a viable RB and WR on same team to spread us out a bit more. I felt they also went a bit with the Alabama game plan of get rid of the ball quickly and limit our DLs opportunities
8) Hansborough looked pretty strong on his run - broke several arm tackles and off he went...impressive, and bummer rolled the ankle on that play. Long term probably good Boehm and him missed some time in that gam as helped expose other issues that need attention in practice and film room
