Impressive. She debuts in new event against an Olympic gold medalist and strong field, i.e. professionals, and runs the 9th fastest time in NCAA history. She didn’t win but it seems impressive to me.
From a recap:
In third in her 10,000 debut was Missouri's Karissa Schweizer, the reigning NCAA indoor 3,000 and 5,000 champ and 2016 NCAA cross country winner. Schweizer ran 32:00.55, the ninth-fastest 10K ever by a collegian.
What’s also nice is that the school record Karissa beat was set just last year by Jamie kempfer at same event. That’s the sign of program success.
My understanding of Karissa’s all time marks(not specific to MU) is that she has the fastest official time in 3000 in history of sport. Fifth fastest official mile time of all time. This is per ustfccca. Someone else more knowledgeable can correct or supplement. She is, from a collegiate all time perspective, among the very best ever.
