Line Splits

Our line splits are much narrower this season than in the past. We have all noticed and it's been pointed out several times on TV/radio that we're splitting out WRs out further to give them more room to operate, make them harder to guard and mimic the Baylor offense. Although we had a little success running the ball on one drive against Georgia, I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind the narrow splits (not that I need to, the coaches obviously never called for my opinion). We don't recruit the type of linemen that can just manhandle the guy in front of them time after time with nothing but brute strength. Wouldn't wider splits create better angles and end up creating a better advantage for linemen who are more "technique" guys? And wouldn't it create bigger running lanes for our quicker running backs versus smaller splits being better for stronger and more physical runners?
