Asked about Nate Howard, Pinkel said when he watched the film, he wondered if Howard was jumping early. Said the last 10-12 days of camp Howard really impressed.

Asked about backup running backs, Pinkel says he thinks they just need more experience and playing time. Says Steward continues to get healthier and Tyler Hunt is back to 100%.
Says OL, scheme, many things impact running game. "Everybody's got to do a little bit better."
About recruiting kickers and punters, Pinkel said the increase in camps and exposure is leading to more specialists being offered. Said in evaluating kickers, it's a little bit of a gut feeling. Very impressed with what Fatony did, said when he got to camp, he wasn't nearly quick enough getting the ball off but has worked hard and really improved. Said he is very competitive.
On Kentrell Brothers: "What he's doing now, there's no thinking, he's just going."
Praises Mauk's work and patience with young receiving corps. Said he did a good job of talking to them after mistakes, drops, etc, on Saturday.
Asked about playing at ASU, "that's where it is...Once the decision's made that's where we play."
Pinkel says he works right alongside administration in setting the schedule. Says they're still a little bit in transition with scheduling games.
"The great players...it doesn't matter where you play a football game or who you play."
Says they spent a lot of time in August talking to the team and the young guys about playing on the road and preparing them for this experience.
Question about Lock/Mauk relationship, reporter says "Maty doesn't seem threatened." Pinkel says "And he shouldn't."
Pinkel is gushing about Ricky Hatley. "It's taken him longer to get here, but he's there." Says the depth chart mistakenly listed him at 285, but he's 302.
