I was just trying to think of a preseason Heisman and All conference QB who did not live up to expections like Lock. Chase Daniel. Look I loved him as our QB in 07 and up until the OSU game he was on fire. And I don't remember his stats. But we were expected to compete for the NC that year and went what 9-3? Lost to ku, OSU, Texas, and OU in a blowout? Granted Lock has never reached what Daniel has and Daniels stats remained good, but I remember some wondering if we should start Gabbert at points. We were losing close games to opponents way inferior in talent. People act like this year is unprecedented but there were calls by the almighty Pinkel that were questioned in all of our losses. And Daniel had far superior talent. Now I would say Lock should be leading this team to at least what Daniel did but his performance has been that much worse against good teams. But it's not unprecedented for a Heisman candidate QB and his team to lose close games they shouldn't late.
