This is my first post here, so go easy on me...
I got to wondering how Lock's stats so far this season measure up against the Mizzou record books. After looking at the single season passing records compared against Drew's current pace, this really could be a special year for the sophomore.
I realize there is a lot of football left to play, but he has 1,106 passing yards (368.7/game) and 9 TDs (3/game) over 3 games. If he keeps it up, he will overtake Chase Daniel as the best single season passer in school history.
Single Season Passing Yards
Chase Daniel (2008) averaged 309.6 per game to accumulate 4,335 yds over 14 games
Drew Lock (2016) is on pace to have 4,792 yds over 13 games (I'm assuming a bowl game and nothing more)
Singe Season Passing Touchdowns
Chase Daniel (2008) averaged 2.8 TDs a game to accumulate 39 over 14 games
Drew Lock (2016) is on pace to tie Chase with 39 over 13 games
There are some really good defenses left on the schedule, so his averages could go down. But it's crazy to think how much he has improved over last year. Props to Lock and Heupel for all of the hard work over the offseason. It's already paying off!
