This is where I post about the game. If you want to post comments about the game, go here.
1st Quarter:
Marvin Zanders will wear no. 8 tonight. They also announced a number of other number changes (some insignificant like Jordan Harold wearing no. 55, which is old news). Early thought: this place is LOUD.
Fournette officially announced as out although that was assumed. Mizzou wins the toss and gets it first.
Opening kick is a touchback. Missouri starts at the 35.
Also now Zanders is wearing his usual number two.
Three and out for Missouri. Missouri didn’t a move a yard on the opening drive.
LSU starts at its own 7.
Donavin Newson drops a would-be interception.
LSU to punt.
Mizzou starts its second drive at its own 44. Four-yard return by Chris Black.
Leonard who? Derrius Guice with a few rushes in this drive for LSU.
Both LSU backup RBs carrying them down the field.
Derrius Guice goes through hard the Missouri defense for a 42-yard touchdown. Kick is good. 7-0 LSU with 6:46 left in the first.
Mizzou starts its third drive from the 25.
Another three and out. Chris Blacks drops a would-be first down catch. Missouri has yet to have a first down.
Xavier Lewis of LSU hit with a targeting penalty. LSU just starts the drive at its own 12 yard line.
Derrius Guice……..
Timeout LSU. Quick analysis. Missouri has nothing going for it on offense right now both on the ground and in the air. A trick play, or something to give itself momentum wouldn't be a bad idea. On defense, the pressure has been on the QB a few times but if they can't stop the run it's going to be a long night.
Missouri with a big stop on 4th and 1. Takes over on its own 25.
Ish Witter with the first Missouri first down of the day.
2nd Quarter:
Still no Alex Ross so far.
Drew Lock picked off. Overthrew under pressure and only LSU players were near the ball.
Terrible throw by Lock who had Culkin wide open.
Derrius Guice with another touchdown. 14-0 LSU with 8:34 left in the first half.
Another touchback. Missouri starts again at the 25.
Ish Witter with a 19-yard gain after a little shovel pass from Drew Lock. He's been the offense's best player so far.
45-yard by Corey Fatony pins LSU at its own 7-yard line. Derrius Guice went to the locker room after his last touchdown. Curious to see how the Missouri does against the run now.
Third-string running back Darrel Williams picking up where Guice left off.
Derrius Guice with another touchdown. That’s a hat trick for him in the first half alone. Leonard who? 21-0 with 4:40 left in the first half.
16-yard return by JJ. First and ten for Missouri from its own 19.
Marvin Zanders in now. Lock lined up at WR the last play. MZ two-yard gain.
Richaud Floyd? Richaud Floyd! First career catch is a first down.
LSU could’ve had two picks during those last two plays. Instead they drop both.
Mizzou getting the ball back with 1:10 left. Will start at its own 25.
Drew Lock sacked for just the second time this season.
Half ends with a J'Mon Moore competition. Then both sides go at it. Looks like Moore said something to someone. I don't know. Anyway, Missouri trails 21-0.
SECOND HALF:
3rd Quarter:
Darrel Williams with a rushing touchdown. 28-0 early third quarter.
Missouri's offense shows signs of life but turns it over after going for it on fourth and short.
Brandon Lee ejected for targeting. Looked like the right call to me. He's done for the rest of the game and the first half against Florida.
LSU field goal attempt no good. Mizzou takes over at its own 35.
Chris Black nearly gives LSU the ball back on a muffed punt. Now under further review.
Mizzou gets the ball. Wow. Thought that was a gift.
End of the third quarter: LSU 28, Missouri 0
4th Quarter:
Another rushing touchdown for LSU. 35-0.
Trick play. Laurent throws a touchdown pass to Lock. That's not a typo. 35-7 with 6:11 left.
Charles Harris disqualified for his second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of the game.
Darrel Williams with his third rushing touchdown of the game. 42-7 LSU with 4:32 left in the game.
