Navigating a recruitment without his father in the picture, Emanuel Porter leaned on his cousin for support.

Sean Cooper, a former Division-II running back, was amid a professional football career in Europe, yet he recognized the growing potential of Porter, a three-star wide receiver from Dallas (Tex.) Lincoln.

Porter just started playing football during his junior season of high school in 2012, and in that short time of recruitment, he bonded with an established Power Five coach in TCU's Curtis Luper, now the running backs coach at Missouri.
