Murphy looked good in the initial preseason game between the Bills and the Panthers, rushing seven times for 35 yards, catching four passes for 30 yards, and scoring a pretty seven yard TD. He was also cited at least twice by announcers as a Missouri alum.

His coach, Sean McDermott, likes him, and he is viewed as a meticulous, team-oriented player. That fits in with McDermott's culture. First round QB pick, Josh Allen, who is being slowly groomed to take the team's reins in the future, says he "love(s) the dude.

"He runs big. You know he’s not going to be the biggest guy out there, but I saw him lower his shoulder into a middle linebacker and get three or four more yards, so out of a back that’s all you can ask for — a guy who is going to try to run through a wall to get extra yards. He’s going to hold onto the football, he’s dynamic outside, he can catch the ball so he’s someone to look out for, for sure," Allen said.

So let's wish him the best. He's the youngest runner on the team, he's competing for the third RB spot, and the talented but dubious Shady McCoy is the starter. Murphy has been working for a chance ever since he was the seventh draft pick of the New Orleans Saints in 2015. I hope he gets it.
