Pinkel takes the podium in 15 minutes. Will pass along any worthwhile notes and quotes here.

Opening remarks: Feel very fortunate to be here for a 15th season.

Mizzou will join all the other SEC schools honoring Mike Slive and prostate cancer awareness with decals on their helmets.

Also Pinkel will auction off the visor that he wears at every home game (including BYU) with the proceeds going to charity.

Cortland Browning out with a hamstring, Wesley Leftwich with a knee. Thinks both will be back in the next week or two.

On Lock at No. 2: "At the end of the day he played better so he deserved that spot."

Asked Pinkel the plans to play Lock. He said it's up to Lock in how he practices and earns time on the field. Doesn't really answer the question. "It's ideal to do that."

Pinkel said he anticipates all freshmen listed on the depth will play. Says Beckner had an exceptional camp.

Pinkel says Brantley injury accelerated need for some of the young DL to play, along with the knowns of losing so many DL the last couple years.

Talking about Charles Harris, said he knew he had the ability to develop into a good player. Incredibly competitive and physically tough. "Has a burning desire to be great." "You'd like to think that we knew that...but a lot of that stuff you don't really know deep down."

More on Lock: Handled himself really well, handled pressure really well. "He's an extremely accurate thrower. I mean really accurate." "He's only been here for 20 practices. You give him 20 more practices, he'll get even better."

"If something happens to Maty...who do we think is the best player to put in for our team?"

Pinkel getting plenty of Lock questions: “This has nothing to do with Maty. You guys are making this about Maty…Don’t confuse it."

Said Abeln did really well the last week or two of fall camp when he started getting reps at LG.

Pinkel confirms Johnathon Johnson won't play this year.

Pinkel says in the next three weeks he'll speak individually with every player who is going to redshirt. Says those talks focus on what he expects out of guys redshirting, how to use the year, will give examples of multiple players who redshirted and still made the NFL.

Beyond the eight on the depth chart, Pinkel says there are no freshmen who might play (barring serious injury issues obviously). Said of the eight listed, there could be some who don't play still and will be evaluated throughout the season.

Wouldn't say Morgan Steward is 100% yet, but gets better every day, says compared to where he was 6-12 months ago is "miraculous"

Asked about Beckner. He said he really embraced Kuligowski and the program and work habits in the last month. "He just got better and better and better. It was neat to see. Very, very talented guy with a great future."
