Figured I'd try to condense everything that's happened over the last few days into one thread for those who maybe aren't on here quite as often:
*Nate Anderson and Yasir Durant are going to sign LOIs today, which is the early juco signing day (it's actually the first day of a week-long period). Both should be on campus in January.
*Pompey Coleman and Isaiah Miller are also planning to be early enrollees.
*That means Mizzou will sign four players early, leaving 25 for February 1, which means the class COULD go up to 29 players. Barry Odom said last week he expected to sign 25 in February. So if you're going to 29, that means there are 10 spots left in this class right now and you need about nine more current scholarship players to leave.
*The reason there are ten spots is because Roderick Ford decommitted in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
At this point, I'm not sure why. Don't know whether it was all Ford's decision or a mutual agreement type of thing. Have a message out to Ford and will check with some sources today and let you know what I hear.
*After the Ford decommitment, Missouri's class is currently at No. 31 in the Rivals team rankings
*In other Mizzou target news, Caleb Sampson was offered by Kansas State last night. I'll be honest, I'm a bit surprised Sampson hasn't flipped to Mizzou yet. I heard really good things about the visit and was expecting a flip. And maybe it has or will happen. But I haven't heard back from Sampson despite a few attempts to reach him since his visit last weekend.
Walter Palmore also picked up a new offer from TCU.
*ICYMI we had the offensive hot board yesterday. A few notes and answers to questions I've received on that:
With Ford's decommitment, I would certainly think there's room for another receiver (Jeff Thomas) in this class. There was always going to be room for Thomas though.
The bulk of the remainder of this class is going to be on defense. We will have the defensive hot board later today.
One name that won't be on it is Octavious Morgan. As we posted yesterday, it is our understanding that due to more stringent juco transfer rules in the SEC, Morgan wouldn't be able to transfer to Mizzou at semester. We expect he ends up at Texas Tech.
At quarterback, we don't know the status of Reyondous Estes. He hasn't taken any visits to this point and hasn't responded to us in about two months. As far as we know, he's still committed to Missouri and we will continue to list him that way until we hear otherwise. Missouri is still at least keeping its toe in the water in quarterback recruiting, but to be flat honest, right now, we don't know who they're targeting or how serious it is. That's why there were no QB targets listed. It's possible they take a guy, we just haven't been able to find out who.
Why so many offensive linemen? The spring game was very nearly not a game last year because the Tigers didn't have enough healthy offensive linemen for two teams. There were times this year where they had trouble putting a scout team on the practice field. They need more bodies.
